WP3 (Macro-economic modelling) will employ two complementary models for the comprehensive analysis of macro-economic implications for the Mediterranean region, focusing on Water Energy Food Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus.
- A two-stage Integrated Assessment Model (IAM) for the Mediterranean region that explicitly represents the Egyptian National Level will be developed. This modeling exercise will focus on various drivers of uncertainty, while assessing the potential impact of regional WEFE-climate-related policies.
- A CGE Model will evaluate the economic impact of alternative water, crop and energy supply options (e.g., desalination, water reuse, type of crop, renewable energy) to cope with climate and demographic projections yield by WP2.
The macro level analyses will enlarge the scope of the project assessing the portability of the AWESOME framework and solutions to other Mediterranean contexts.
